That was kind of what I was getting at, I'm hopeing they leave ANW in ANW and dont let it interfere with the real 23 broadcast

I didn't see the finals but I saw the Sasuke 23 version of ANW... wow they edited that badboy so badly.. It was like they were there by themselves.. and I see they conveniently deleted the most Hated Levi Moment of the tournament.. The splash into the water after the Japanese interview..

Just saw the last 4 parts. The finals I thought felt a bit out of place but it did stress everyone. Poor David . Anyway, I don't know if they aired this without timezone delays, but I'm talking about it anyway. The last two parts, they showed everyone's full runs as arsenette expected and they also showed stage 2 and 3. Seeing this, it actually makes me that much more excited to see the actual broadcast of the tournament because it means they won't be trying to cram in the 10 ANW runs, which would be a total mess. And it may mean we get to see Nagano's epic performance! This also means we get more time to see the other competitors. I had a whole page long write up on how I thought the broadcast was gonna be done for the G4 Broadcast Speculation thread... but that's out the window now. What I also like is how it's in HD now, and because of that G4 couldn't blob out an entire corner of the screen for their logo. I like what they did with the timer thing now and I hope it's like that with the actual broadcast, but maybe red instead of blue. They'll probably show the entire runs for the one's who completed stage 1 and maybe do the little introduction for the other Americans, but instead of showing their entire runs or featuring them in a fast forward montage, they'll just jump ahead to a later obstacle so we can see them attempt it and time out or fall. They haven't made a mention of when Sasuke 23 is going to be though. Maybe they're waiting to get their holiday specials out of the way before they do anything or just throw it out their this week. I'm still guessing with next Saturday or the following Saturday because their holiday specials begin over a week from now on Monday. They did announce the Women of Ninja Warrior marathon followed but an all new one on January 9. So everything seems to be on a Saturday.

I missed most of the 6th episode, but I saw much of the rest and actually thought that it wasn't THAT bad. I mean yeah, they acted as if the Americans were the only ones there, but overall the last 2 episodes were better than the rest of them combined IMO. It did seem that they rushed Levi's Stage 3 run though, however they were actually able to hold my attention span for most of the time. Nevertheless, I have a 2 questions about this week's ANW episodes: 1. How did the guy who got the fastest times in both the qualifying round and the semi-finals (sorry, I forget his name ) get eliminated during the middle of the finals? 2. Twelve Timbers? Where the heck did they come up with this name?

No new information on 23.. personally we should email the hell out of G4 to get their act together.. They are now officially 2 tournaments behind.. LOL I think it's going to be after Kunoichi if they plan on showing it. It'd be odd if they aren't. Yeah I was laughing at the 12 timbers

1. How did the guy who got the fastest times in both the qualifying round and the semi-finals (sorry, I forget his name ) get eliminated during the middle of the finals? He got dehydrated after the first part of the finals and had to go to the hospital. He was DQ'd because he was not able to compete in 2nd round of finals.

That's a shame, makes me wonder how he could've done on Sasuke. We'll never know.

I was just curious. How are the Sasuke trials done in comparision to ANW?

Arsenette can fill in blanks as well as correct me where I'm wrong, but they work like this:
1.) There are NO open tryouts. Only people who have proven they are serious, strong competitors through entry.
2.) The selected individuals run set tryouts on a specific course. I believe it changes in format from time to time. One time I saw a mini-course that 4 people ran at the same time, and only the first person to pass the finish line's time would count. They would then sit in chairs based on their time, and get knocked down a chair when someone beat their time. Top 5 or whatnot went to Sasuke. Another time (This was how Yuuji and Kanno (Thanks Arsenette) got on), they set up a bunch of balance, speed and agility obstacles. Pass the single obstacle, move on to the next. Beat all obstacles, go to Sasuke.
Arsenette has blogs on them; they're quite interesting I'd highly recommend checking them out! Lots of fun to read and see the pics of!

Yes, that would definitely force the best times, but that also requires a budget G4 really doesn't have.

There has been several version of Sasuke Trials. I've blogged the trials for 21 (Check July-September, 2008 - "Sasuke Maniac episodes") where 8 made it (including Ryo). For 22-23 they showed the Trials during Sasuke Navi (again, March, 2009 Navi and September, 2009 Navi). There were no Trials for 24. Yuuji beat Trials for 22 (finally) though he was invited to 21 via an entry at a festival (check blog and search for BUG IN MIKI - I think June, 2008). One thing though about the "fastest times". Generally they don't do this until the 2nd or 3rd stages.. They basically say if you pass the first stage you get eliminated afterwards. ANW should have followed that formula. Personally.. if they were planning on doing ANW in the future.. they should just do the extended course only as the first stage.. I guarantee you the amount of clears would greatly drop. Then second stage just add 3 things a REAL Jumping spider (not this hop onto the wall crap they had in ANW), Cliffhanger (even a simple version would suffice here) and Salmon Ladder.. if anyone survives that.. they deserve to go to Japan Oh.. if I'm feeling particularly evil.. have a timed final stage just for kicks (Oh Chris.. Yuuji and Kanno are the 2 from 22 you are thinking of )

I thought it was cool that all the ANW competitors cleared the Jumping Spider.

William Spencer (Levi's training buddy) suffered from heat exhaustion.
Yeah, I think the next ANW should just start off with the full course, but if they want to split it up between qualifying and semifinal rounds, then at least have the real Jumping Spider and the real Warped Wall and then for finals have a mini course made from the tougher stage 2 and 3 obstacles. Fastest times for each round move on.

As you all might know, I was in Vegas most of this week and was completely unaware that they would show the ANWs run the Sasuke course. You can imagine the shock when I first realized realized this tonight! It was pretty crazy that my seemingly outlandish prediction a few weeks ago actually came true.
Anyway, it was sad seeing David getting eliminated. In my opinion, those challenges were fairly poor. It was also rough seeing Ruselis get eliminated.
After all of this, I am convinced that the top 'x' times format has got to go. Next time they need to:
-Have set time limits for each stage. People who cleared the first day didn't have a chance because they didn't have any sense of the speed required.
- Make the stages much harder so fewer pass.
- Be more realistic. Brick stacking and tire stepping have no place in a Sasuke/Ninja Warrior trial.
I'm now very slightly worried that sasuke 23 won't be shown at all. There was no announcement of "tune in next month for the rest of competition." I have faith though because they showed Nagano climbing the Final Stage.

Yeah.. way to go G4 to spoil the friggin' Sasuke 23 final... LOL!
I didn't watch the ANW finals because I knew it would be edited to incriminate the real problem with the final. I just couldn't bear watching it knowing all that. I probably won't - suffice to say what was done to David was so wrong I can't even put it into words.

Yeah.. way to go G4 to spoil the friggin' Sasuke 23 final... LOL! Where in ANW was that? I must have blinked or something. Yeah, the finals aren't even Sasuke related and used a race mechanic (I mean an actual method, I don't mean Washimi Yuji). When did anything sasuke related have an easy course with a race mechanic?... Oh right.. Kunoichi 8.. and we all know how good of a tournament that was.. oh wait.. (I'm not saying Kunoichi 8 was bad. I'm just saying it shouldn't be called Kunoichi) I thought it was cool that all the ANW competitors cleared the Jumping Spider. I think you're forgetting about Travis (BTW. David.. you should have told him to check the parking lot for trampolines)
