They stayed for 21 because they show Levi and Brian watching Nagano on the Spider Flip Now I remember, they were saying he was smart for placing his feet inside the scaffolding that holds the board. Now it's just 18.

18 was the let's show you behind the scenes and that was it. I suspect G4 left right after the first Stage.

Was Zach accually a competitor or was he just allowed to run the course because if he was a competitor he could be one the people that failed the Rope Glider and was cut by TBS

They let him be the first person to try out the new course. Overall, it was a pretty bad special. Zach was trying to be a Ninja the whole time and of course there was very little actual detail abut the course.

Not to mention that Zach wasn't even there the same day as Sasuke 18 recorded. He was there a day or more before while the course was set up. Didn't you notice that he was the only one there (excluding staff) the whole time?
And if he actually competed they wouldn't have let him try (fake or not) the Great Wall or Rope Glider.

Thehehe I found the Kojima thing too and talked to Ube before he headed out for the night. Seems the person was saying "wouldn't it be nice if" rather than confirmation. Not sure about the other person though.

Weren't there two specials for 18? One with Zach trying to be a ninja around Japan and another that was more relevant that was narrated entirely by Wittenberg that went into the whole process, each of them a half hour?

Yes, Inside Ninja Warrior was the Zach Selwyn at Sasuke 18 on a different day (except when he interviewed competitors) (which except for mentioning the history and showing the first 4 obstacles (which he named wrong, Rope Slider (which admittedly JET had it listed as too), Rock Grip and Pole Main and he didn't even name the JS) and his epic fail on the Rope Glider didn't really have much to do with Sasuke at all. Sasuke 18's pre show was just that, a pre-show, it showed the race and some behind the scenes stuff was pretty much a half hour dubbed Sasuke 18 Navi shown by G4 (and I assume it took footage from the navi). (It's also where I got those pics of the planned course sketches (which quality killed from getting it online XD) and the Prototype Log Grip)

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zach_Selwyn (God I love wiki..) I know he's also on Discovery (I think Science) on a show called "Catch it Keep it" .. I see commercials all the time for it when I'm watching Discovery.

ugh, Zach was there on a completely different day. If you notice, when he's in front of the Salmon Ladder all the rungs are equidistant (thus it was the prototype).

And that was said before, sans the Salmon Ladder part. Do people NOT read other posts?
