That's not true at all. His logic says that people who clear faster aren't necessarily better than people who take more time, but are still within the time limit. The problem is that a fixed time limit is just as arbitrary as a variable time limit, and people are going to get cut off with either. You can't damn one and praise the other without it sounding like piling on, especially since Monster9 has used variable time limits for their shows before. I thought that the time limits set for Sasuke were determined to allow ~10 competitors through. Has M9 ever used variable for Sasuke? This still doesn't prove that the faster competitors are better. People will get cut off with both, yes. However, with a fixed time limit every competitor knows what that time is, with variable it's ever changing which gives an advantage to the competitors who participate later in the competition.

However, with a fixed time limit every competitor knows what that time is, with variable it's ever changing which gives an advantage to the competitors who participate later in the competition. Bingo. And yes Joe M9 changes their competitions every single time but we know what the rules are going in. When there is a "timed" thing EVERYONE knows exactly how fast they should be going (anyone remember the top 8 chairs just sitting there?). Even in Sasuke 23 trials there were 10 chairs there (but only 6 made it). The fact of the matter is that even after all of this is said and done.. ANW is still fixed by G4 at the top end to fit their show.. the MAJOR problem with that is that Sasuke is not their show.. ANW is.. so if you are calling it a "trials" (which in G4's defense they never said it was) then they have to be fair. G4's done none of that by picking the finals. They still have a chance to fix it. It was their very first show with Pilgrim and to their defense they did ask the competitors their opinion on how to fix it for the next time. They were bound the rules they thought would work then realized it was stupid to begin with when the competition started. By streamlining it with less people (cutting out the people that showed up because they wanted to be on camera and had no physical ability - we can blame G4 for not having enough fan festivals) who are there specifically to get on Sasuke then maybe a real good competition and an all out "TRIALS" can actually happen. As much as I can complain about how cheap M9 does it.. it's still a Trials and the results are not manipulated as they are with the G4 version.

"G4 is a TV network focused on Tech Culture."
Hmmm. I just got my new channel lineup from Time Warner, and they have G4 listed as a sports channel. Think I'll go fishing.

The selection process will never be good enough for us until the people we want to be sent are sent. I'm sure they have incredibly similar gripes in Japan for the same basic reasons. Speaking only for myself, this sums it up. I can overanalyze and rationalize the selection process all I want, but I won't be satisfied until certain folks get a shot at Sasuke. Rightly or wrongly, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Oh they didn't hand pick the final 10....they were originally planning to but then for the final cut they did more timed stuff. I thought the open try outs and the semi-finals were both done great, the only thing I'd do different there is add some harder obstacles like a salmon ladder or cliffhanger. The finals on the other hand were pretty irrelevant to Sasuke and setup very last minute. They didn't tell us what were were supposed to do 'till we were just about to do it or explain the rules very well. Also the "obstacles" seemed to be set up harder for some people due to them just being in a hurry to set it up and run people through. But that being said the 10 that went to Japan were the 10 did the best as defined by the rules and G4/Pilgram had no control over the outcome.
Also there will be no ANW for Sasuke 24 because of TBS telling them so late G4 didn't have any money for it or time to plan. From what I've been told they aren't sending anyone, but I wouldn't be surprised if they send Levi anyway (I say this mostly because of the "American Hero" mention on the TBS page).
I told G4 I'd be willing to sell my car and pay my own way over to Japan and if they could get me an invite and film the whole thing for them and also said there are a few others on here that would be willing to do the same thing, but that said it wouldn't be possible.
So does anyone know if tbs has posted the Sasuke 24 mail entry guidelines? I figure if they're ever going to ignore the rule about all americans going through G4 this would be the time (since G4 isn't sending anyone!).
Hey Oti, maybe this is your chance. TBS doesn't seem to have any age requirements.
They did say they planned to do another ANW type thing for Sasuke 25 FYI.

despite lack of trials G4 should send back Levi, Brian and Richard since TBS probably invited them back for clearing stage 1. And good luck trying to get on david, maybe you could apply through TBS?

Oh? Any info? My mouth is drooling for info now... Dates? ANW specifics? Location?
I'm so ready for the next one... Mentally I mean...
Seriously wish I had money to enter for TBS right now... But still saving up for next ANW so I just gotta keep training for that.

They'll probably surprise us and send a few people anyway.
Offtopic maybe - With the Barclaycard Freerun Championship airing today, G4's airing Sasuke 19, 20, 21, and 22 today before it if anyone's interested.

Guys.. the Address to Monster 9 who is taking the applications is always on my website and I even put it at the top (Sasuke 24 Announcement) for people to find it immediately ramblingrican.blogspot.com/2009/10/sasuke-24-official-announcement.htmlThat sucks they are doing nothing.. with that said please EBOMB M9 to allow for American Entries since there will be no trials available to qualify this time around. That was their excuse since Sasuke 21...

Watching 22 right now, and I noticed all the graphics seemed to be moved over and closer to the right compared to the initial G4 broadcast (the one we have in the other... section).
Those applying through M9 should maybe make a mention on their application of how G4 isn't doing anything for the Americans this time around.

Those applying through M9 should maybe make a mention on their application of how G4 isn't doing anything for the Americans this time around. Yes! Definitely say "America will not have a Trials for Sasuke 24". The problem still arises.. you MUST mention that you can pay for your own way to Sasuke if chosen. They will NOT pay for airfare, etc. You will be on your own. So definitely mention those 2 things or your application will be outright rejected. Also. Tailor your video to something Monster 9 wants to see. You are trying to reach a different audience. ETA: Geez I can't write the English language today...

Like what?
I know. That's why I'm actually excited about Sasuke for the first time in months.

I say this with every entry. Make your video as unique as possible. Make sure your personality is shown. Something that struck me was Ruselis' original video. HIS video was even shown in Sasuke and Sasuke Maniac and he wasn't even there....

Bah, this sucks. I finally got a job but I don't know if I can scrap together enough money to fly out to JAPAN! Plus food, hotel, and everything. Oh well, you only live once. Who cares about debt =). I'll be applying to M9. Maybe I'll film some scenes of me playing Q-zar, that might be quirky enough for them. I know there's two Q-zars in Japan. Luckily I've been working on a new video for funzies too, so I've got some good footage. Anyone know when the due date for vids to M9 is?

They are saying the tournament is in December (taping) so I would be safe to put a timeline of no later than the 2nd week of November. We don't know how fast or slow their mail delivery system is and if there are special things they need to do for foreign applicants. Better safe and early then late and sorry.. P.S. When someone gets their entry videos ready (and even on YouTube) please post so we know who's going. I can also blog about it once there are a few of them to help promote ya'll

So what do they mean by " VTR if there is a plus"? Is that supposed to be "video" but got translated wrong?

I'm pretty much just going to take all my old videos and splice in some new stuff. Mine won't be incredibly fresh.
