He's threatened to retire about 4 times and hasn't done it yet. I don't think he'll ever retire. I hope he doesn't. He's one of my favorites.

he will not retire, obvious...but I was wondering why he should play the "retire threatening card". He did so well, no? Unless he simply wanted an higher number fr 24...see sasuke 17

I just remembered... did I read that right? In chat someone translated his stage 1 interview and he said he was going to retire after 24. Just like he retired after 8? And how he retired after 17?

I echo these statements. We're not seeing the last of Yamada. It's like the boy who cried wolf. We'll stop believing him after a certain number of times. he will not retire, obvious...but I was wondering why he should play the "retire threatening card". He did so well, no? Unless he simply wanted an higher number fr 24...see sasuke 17 Oh snap, we've got a number #100 for Sasuke 24! Yeah, again, we'll believe it when we see it, Yamada.

I like Yamada, even if he's not always the best sportsman. I know he's (still) got it in him, but he's suffered so many absolutely bizarre defeats--it'd be nice to see him at least get through stage one again.
Still, what an exciting tournament.

This I find interesting.
I broke down the view counts on all my stuff on YT. Yamada's theme has the 2nd highest % of view from Japan, which is also where most of my views are from. Only Nagano's theme is ahead of him.
In the US, Sasuke Clear Theme 11 Shingo Yamamoto's Theme ( ŽR–{ iŒå ) 11 Makoto Nagano's Theme ( ’·–ì ½ ) 9.2 Other Final Stage and Ending 8.9 Shunsuke Nagasaki's Theme ( ’·è s˜Ð ) 7.7 Toshihiro Takeda's Theme ( ’|“c •q_ ) 7.4 Yuuji Urushihara's Theme ( Ž½Œ´ —TŽ¡ ) 7.2 Final Stage Theme 6.0 Sasuke Total Victory Theme 5.8 Katsumi Yamada's Theme ( ŽR“c ŽŒÈ ) 5.5
Apparently he is very popular, we just dont like him in the US

Between that and it was hard to get that album since it's no longer for sale I believe. But yes he's extremely popular worldwide.

(Sory, Nagano and Shingo are just too awesome)

I also like Yamada. Shingo is my favorite, but I like Yamada, too. I really admire his perseverance.

Yeah, that was me translating for the chat about him retiring. He *says* he's going to, but with his past history, of course he isn't. In any case, he did better. That's all we can really ask for.

If Yamada got the wall on his first try he would of beat the stage because i think the only reason he failed the slider jump was that he was in a rush

Actually I think he failed because he did the same crap that Nagano did. The pipeslider hands.. one forward one back. Even Nagano eluded that it's why Yamada failed.

I can't help but feel slightly sorry for the guy. Regardless of his performance in recent years, he has always been Mr Sasuke. He's not my favourite all-star, but I would definitely like to see him at least beat stage 1 before he actually does retire (I'm sure he will at some point)

About the pipe slider hands: That grpi really does hep you hold onto bars a LOT. So it's obvious why the all-stars would try it their first time around.
The normal way with both hands forward makes it actually a lot harder to hold onto the bar, but a hell lot easier to dismount.
I'd say both could work... but the 2 hands forward would be more ideal IMO.

If that is true that definatly proves that the net is closer becuase when Yamada did it he reached the net and fell but when Nagano did it is 22 he could only get 1 hand on the net

Its obviously closer, but not for that reason BLM. Nagano missed in 22 because his hand rubbed against one of the bars, thus killing his momentum. Same with Levi in 22.
Now watch Brian's 23 run. If that were 22's SJ, he would have failed there.

Unless he tried harder because of the bigger distance. We don't know for sure...
