He keeps losing because... No one believes in him! =o But seriously, I think in stage 2 and 3 he'd do pretty well. Stage 2 has a leaniant time limit, and stage 3 has no time limit + most of his training is geared towards that stage. I can see him failing stage 1 like always but there arn't too many stage 2-3 obstacles I see him having troubles with. Seem slike the all-stars always do better on the later stages, but Shingo Akiyama and Yamada just can't seem to get that far =/ maybe if the stages were in a different order...hm.

*prepares for unhappy responses*
I'd be less than surprised to see him fail the Arm Rings. He's got the strength for it and the ability to complete it. However, when he gets frustrated, he shuts down. We've seen it time and time again. He tenses up, tenses his muscles, and fails to perform.
The awkwardness of the ending section of the Arm Rings (which tripped up even Yuuji Urushihara for a couple seconds) combined with the overall unsettling effect intended by the uneven tracks could seriously shut him down mentally. I can totally see him pulling a Daisuke Nakata at the end of the Arm Rings, falling after a painful-looking 2 minutes on the obstacle.
Then again, I was the only one in the Sasuke 22 prediction thread that put Nagano out before Stage 3, so I tend to picture grotesque falls moreso than others here.

That may be the case if the arm rings were say in stage 1...
But if Yamada finally beats not only Stage 1 but stage 2 do you REALLY think he's going to have mental problems? Atleast for the rest of the day and the next Sasuke.
After beating stage 1 he'll get a huge confidence boost, and it'll only increase after beating stage 2.
So once stage 3 comes sur ehe might get a bit frustrated that he couldn't beat it faster, and it might throw off his rythm a bit causing him to fail somewhere ELSE later in stage three. Though, I highly doubt he'd actually fail the arm ring obstacle.
He's done it at muscle park tons of times you know.

Even if Yamada beat every obstacle in Stage One, he would probably time out. Sasuke 22 had a very strict time limit for stage one and Yamada has timed out on courses with very leniant time. This ay be because he jogs to the next obstacle, wasting precisous time.

Therefore, he'll need a better pace than he had in 18 when he ALMOST made it. Question is, will his age let him?
And even so, get past the freakin' Jumping Spider, Yamada.

And in 23, he beat the Warped Wall with around 15 seconds left and uses his"Pipe Slider Technique" on the Slider Jump.

Well, in 23 his pace was fine until he botched the Warped Wall a few times...if next time he can do that in a couple shots (or preferably just one), and doesn't do the Pipe Slider grip, then he has a shot of clearing. Dunno how the grip on the Jumping Spider is like in December, though.

I'd wager it might be better. Cooler air means less chance for condensation and sweat and thus better friction.
I'm also thinking there may be people wiping down the boards regardless.

I expect the Jumping Spider to be DEADLY in this tournament. A lot of the people that cleared it in 23 won't in 24 and who knows how well people will stick to the walls. Statistically, the Jumping Spider tends to do more damage when it is colder.
